There are more ways to get the internet than to go through the NBN.
Satellite, home wireless, 4G — or you could lock in one of the fastest NBN alternatives, 5G home internet.
5G home internet plans have come an exceptionally long way in recent years. And, as more providers are getting on board with the technology, the prices are only getting more competitive.

With so many of us on the NBN, perhaps it’s time to ask yourself if a new technology type could be faster, cheaper and more reliable.
Best value 5G home internet plan
The best value 5G plan overall is a tie between iiNet and TPG. Both run on Vodafone’s 5G network and include a modem.
Both offer unlimited data at max download speeds of 50Mbps at just $49.99 per month with an introductory offer of $10 off for the first six months. Thereafter, you’ll pay $59.99 per month.
If you’re unhappy with these plans, you can cancel at any time. You’ll just need to return your modem if you leave.
Best uncapped 5G home internet plan
For those that need serious download speeds, whether it’s for gaming or working from home, an uncapped 5G home internet plan is the ideal choice. Uncapped speeds mean the plan will be as fast as the network and real-world conditions allow.
At the time of writing, the above plan by SpinTel offers the best value uncapped plan. With reported download speeds of up to 240Mbps, this is not only higher than Optus’ speeds by 30Mbps but works out cheaper by $5 over 12 months than Optus’ plan.
Other 5G plans with max 50Mbps
If you’re more interested in shopping based on speed capabilities, 5G plans with a maximum speed of 50Mbps sit on par with an NBN 50 plan. Above, we have compiled a list of various 5G home internet providers that offer plans somewhat cheaper than their NBN competition.

Other 5G plans with max 100Mbps
For households that need more than the average internet speed, the equivalent of an NBN 100 plan is a 5G plan with a max speed of 100Mbps. These sit around the $55 to $76 price point. Many NBN 100 plans cost at least $80 per month at full price.
