A body has been found during a desperate search of the Brisbane River for a car seen plunging into the water overnight.
Pedestrians and onlookers saw the blue sedan go into the water near the Moggill Rd Ferry, in Brisbane’s southwest, about 6.45pm on Monday.
Specialist police, swift water rescue and several Queensland Fire Department crews rushed to the river, spending hours searching for the sedan.

“Following extensive searches along the river by specialist police and other agencies, the vehicle was located about 11.20pm,” police said.
“Just after midnight police divers confirmed a man in his 60s was inside the submerged vehicle.”



Police confirmed the death is not suspicious, with investigations ongoing as they await post mortem results to determine the cause of the crash.
