A 26-year-old man has been charged over a fatal crash that claimed the life of a motorbike rider.

The 52-year-old suffered critical injuries when his black Harley Davidson and a white Toyota Camry collided just before 7am on Tuesday.

The crash happened on Abernethy Rd, near Aitken Way, in the Perth suburb of Kewdale and forced the road to be closed in both directions.

The motorbike rider was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance but died from his significant injuries.

A Canning Vale man has been charged with one count of careless driving occasioning death.

He will appear in court at a later date.
