Australian Moto2 teenager Senna Agius has broken his duck in astonishing fashion, pulling off a double pass at the penultimate corner to jump from third to first.
The Aussie young gun triumphed at Silverstone in what commentators immediately described as a “Moto2 race for the ages”.
Agius entered the weekend with two podium finishes to his name so far this season and sensed his opportunity when David Alonso and Aron Canet were fighting ahead of him on the last lap.

Agius was beside himself after being reminded he is now a grand prix winner.
“How good, that sounds amazing, mate — I honestly can’t believe it,” he said before explaining what went through his mind on the last lap.
“I battled so hard during the race and I always get past on the straight, I couldn’t pass in sector one, I couldn’t quite get a good enough drive out of (sector) two.
“So I was thinking I need to pass to get a gap for the straight but I always made my moves two corners before the straight. So someone would pass me back.
“I thought I’d try to get a podium. When Alonso went for Aron I saw Aron square him up and I went this is going to go bad so I waited, let the brake off and I couldn’t believe it.
“All my family watching back home, I wish they were here to celebrate with me. It hasn’t sunk in yet, grand prix winner — sounds pretty f***ing good to me, mate. I’m so happy.”
Agius was joined on the podium by Diogo Moreira, who jumped into second, and Alonso, last year’s Moto3 champion who held on to finish third for his maiden Moto2 podium.
The Aussie’s win catapulted him up to sixth in the championship.
He now sits just 20 points behind third but 47 behind leader Manuel Gonzalez, who crashed out on lap four in a battle with Barry Baltus.
In MotoGP, Australian veteran Jack Miller finished ninth in Saturday’s sprint race and will start Sunday’s grand prix from sixth.
In Moto3, Aussie Joel Kelso will start from fifth as he attempts to claim a third straight podium and fourth this season.
