The senior constable has been charged.

A police officer has been stood down after allegedly using excessive force while on duty.

The man is a senior constable within the South Eastern Region branch of the Queensland Police Force, which monitors crime at the Gold Coast and Logan.

It also polices the Scenic Rim Region including Beaudesert, Rathdowney, Canungra and Mt Tamborine.

The 56-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was served with a notice to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on June 4.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” Queensland Police said.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”
