The brief search commenced after further enquires and investigations earlier in the day, with the discovery being made by specialist units about 2:30pm.

The remains are yet to be formally identified, however investigators are in contact with Bishop’s family.

A crime scene has been declared at the location and forensic examinations are continuing.

Bishop’s mother Kylie Johnson said the discovery is “ripping her apart”.

Sharing Queensland Police Service’s notice of the find on Facebook, Johnson wrote: “I didn’t think my heart could break any more than it did when you went missing, or when the charges where laid but this! This is ripping me apart ...”

The 17-year-old was last seen on May 15, when she was alleged to have been dropped off at Bundaberg Airport by her housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33.

She was planning to fly to Perth in Western Australia to spend time with her boyfriend but failed to check in.

Wood and Bromley were arrested on Thursday night in the Bundaberg area and each charged with one count of murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse.

Police had previously taken Wood into custody in relation to the missing teen, however, they confirmed he had been released without charge on Thursday morning.

Less than 24 hours later, Wood and Bromley were again taken into custody and charged with murder on Thursday night.

Johnson, who had regularly made public pleas for information on her daughter’s whereabouts, previously said her world had been shattered.

“Our world has just been shattered into the most horrific place I’ve ever been,” she said after Wood and Bromley’s arrest.

“I need my baby home to put her to rest! I’m absolutely begging anyone that knows anything to come forward.

“We need to put her to rest, we need to put her to peace.”

Crime scenes were initially declared at the home Bishop shared with Wood and Bromley in Gin Gin, and also in a car the pair said they had used to drop the teen off at the airport.

Police had also begun searches of a dense patch of bushland in the Good Night Scrub National Park.

The search was suspended a week ago, after forensics teams in blue dust suits were seen bagging items of interest.

Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield said on Friday that the Good Night Scrub was one of the areas Pheobe’s body was alleged to have been moved from after her alleged murder.

“We believe Pheobe was murdered, and her body was moved,” he said at the time.

“We will allege that Pheobe was moved more than once.

“(We) had been led to the goodnight scrub through telephone data,” he said.

A 4WD belonging to Wood was also seized by police on Thursday night after the arrests.
